Progress of AOC II
What will be done under AOC II, and where are we now?
The steps for implementing AOC II are:
Site Management Strategy – the purpose of the Site Management Strategy document is to review available historical
and public information about the area that will be investigated; develop a preliminary conceptual model
of the area, which defines the conditions of the area to be investigated; identify additional items that
may need to be researched or reviewed to provide more detail to the conceptual model; and outline a management
strategy or approach to be used to conduct the investigation. This document has been approved by the USEPA, and is available
for viewing on its website:

Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study (RI/FS) Work Plan including the Field Sampling Plan – this document outlines
the types of investigations to be conducted, where and what kinds of samples will be collected, how the
samples will be analyzed, and how the data will be evaluated. This document has been approved by the USEPA, and is available
for viewing on its website:

Remedial Investigation – this is the phase of the investigation when samples are collected and analyzed. This portion of the investigation was completed on January 17, 2008.
Although not required by the AOC II, regular
measurements of water levels and samples for the analysis of boron continue to
be collected in the Area of Investigation.
RI Report – this report summarizes the data collected during the remedial
investigation.
The report was submitted to the USEPA on May 19,
2008, and was conditionally approved on November 3, 2009. The final report was
provided to the USEPA on March 5, 2010. This document has been approved by the
USEPA, and is available for viewing on its website:

Human Health and Ecological Risk Assessment Reports – These reports present the analysis of potential risks
to human health and the environment.
A draft of the Ecological Risk Assessment was
submitted to the USEPA on January 22, 2010, and a draft of the Human Health Risk
Assessment was submitted to the USEPA on March 5, 2010.
FS Report – This report identifies and evaluates potential remedial actions.
